Who We Are?

We are a dynamic, women and youth-led non-government organization based in Kanchanpur District of Sudurpaschim Province. We focus on Disaster Risk Reduction, Climate Justice, Youth Empowerment, Gender and Social Inclusion, and Good Governance. Addressing these critical issues, we aim to foster resilient communities, promote equity and advocate for meaningful change in the community.

As an organization driven by the passion and dedication of young leaders, we strive to bring positive changes empower communities, and foster sustainable development.

Sangsangai Nepal is founded by a meeting of a youth group that was on September 23, 2021 and affiliated with Social Welfare Council (Registration No. 54721).

Background History

Sangsangai Nepal emerged as a resilient force during the challenging phase of COVID-19 pandemic. Establishing an effective campaign, we swiftly responded to the crisis and transformed adversity into an opportunity to create a lasting impact in society.

On May 2021, as the world grappled with the unprecedented global health crisis, a passionate youth group united with a vision – to address the challenges exacerbated by the pandemic and create positive changes in the communities. Recognizing the urgent need for collective action, we launched a campaign that mobilized resources, raised awareness, and extended support to those most needy people.

Through the dedication and determination of our chairman and executive members, our campaign gained momentum and quickly evolved into a full-fledged organization.

During the early stages of the pandemic, we focused on providing immediate relief and support to those affected with the health crisis. From supporting essential supplies to vulnerable communities, facilitating access to healthcare services, and supporting frontline workers, we were able to create a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals and families.

As the pandemic unfolded, we recognized the interconnectedness between health, social justice, and environmental sustainability. Expanding our scope, we directed our efforts towards addressing broader systemic issues, including Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), Climate Justice, Gender Equity and Social Inclusion (GESI), Youth Empowerment and Livelihood, and Good Governance. Our organization evolved into a comprehensive platform for driving holistic and sustainable change.

Throughout our journey, we have actively collaborated with local bodies, civil society organizations (CSOs), youth, and other government entities. By forging partnerships, we harnessed the collective strength and expertise of diverse stakeholders, amplifying our impact and fostering a sense of shared responsibility in addressing the pandemic’s multifaceted challenges.

As we look ahead, we are fueled by the lessons learned from the pandemic and inspired by the potential for positive change. Our history has shaped us, and our collective efforts have laid a strong foundation for the transformative work that lies ahead. Together, we will build upon our accomplishments, embrace new challenges, and leave a lasting legacy of resilience, compassion, and social progress.

What We Do

1. Disaster Risk Reduction and Climate Justice: We work tirelessly to mitigate the impacts of disasters and address the urgent challenges posed by climate change. Through research, advocacy, and community engagement, we develop strategies for disaster preparedness, promote climate resilience, and advocate for policies that prioritize justice and sustainability.
2. Youth Empowerment and Livelihood: We recognize that young people are the driving forces for positive social transformation. Our organization is committed in empowering youth by providing them access to education, skills training, mentorship, and opportunities for meaningful engagement. We believe in nurturing their potential to become change agents and leaders in their communities.
3. Gender and Social Inclusion: We are dedicated to creating a world that upholds gender equality and embraces diversity in all its forms. Our organization actively advocates for gender and social inclusion by promoting equal opportunities, challenging discriminatory practices, and working towards a society where every individual is respected, valued, and has a voice.
4. Good Governance: We believe that good governance is the cornerstone of a just and prosperous society. Through our initiatives, we aim to foster transparency, accountability, and citizen participation in decision-making processes. We advocate for ethical practices, engage with policymakers, and support initiatives that promote effective governance systems.
